• Venice, Museo Correr "The art of handwriting" 2009

This course is a truly special event, the first of its kind in Venice and in any Italian Library!

Prevalently of a practical nature, this course makes use of the vast, valuable collections in the Correr Museum library to examine the immense expressive potential of handwriting.
The course starts with the particular shapes of chancellery handwriting in the Sixteenth century, going on to original, fascinating letters from the XVII, XVIII and XIX centuries, thus leading to a greater mastery of handwriting and the attempt at a new, clear, well-paced, personal style of handwriting.
Course participation
The course is open to all lovers of handwriting, calligraphists, artists and designers.
It is also open to beginners.
All lessons will be held in English.
The course can be attended by 20 participants maximum.

Venue

The lessons will take place in the Library, in the classrooms and in the Neo-classical Rooms of the Correr Museum.

Dates

The course starts on 21st August 2009 and finishes on 28th August 2009

Lesson time table
21st August: 3 pm – 5 pm
22nd – 23rd – 24th – 26th – 27th August: 9.30 am – 5 pm
(coffee break and lunch break in the Correr Museum Caffeteria
25th August: day off
28th August: 9.30 am – 1 pm

Cost

€650 per person. The fee includes materials, coffee breaks and snacks at lunch time.
The participants will also receive a pass they can use during the course to visit the Museums belonging to the Foundation (Doge’s Palace, Museo Correr, Ca' Rezzonico - Museum of 18th-Century Art, Carlo Goldoni’s House, Palazzo Mocenigo, Ca’ Pesaro International Gallery of Modern Art, Glass Museum - Murano, Lace Museum - Burano, Museum of Natural History).
